Berlin Fashion Week being one of the most iconic fashion events of the world, the opportunity to create a viewpoint into Sri Lanka’s talent, infrastructures and manufacturing methods is a remarkable opportunity for the local industries creative developments. At MBFW autumn/winter 2019, Mercedes-Benz will present 16 designers on the runway in a series of shows, to be kicked off featuring International Designer Exchange Program (IDEP) talent Amesh Wijesekera from Sri Lanka.
The young designer, based in London, is a graduate of the Academy of Design Sri Lanka and was discovered at MBFW Colombo in 2016. That year, he won the renowned International Catwalk Competition Award at Graduate Fashion Week in London. A year earlier, he was awarded at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion and Apparel Awards in Sri Lanka.
International Fashion Showcase (IFS) is an integral part of London Fashion week and gives the most promising 16 emerging designers around the world the opportunity to showcase at London fashion week 2019.
With the combination of hand crafted textiles & textures, specialized printing technology, artisanal knitwear and other unconventional elements Amesh creates outstanding collection.
